904L has good resistance to general corrosion, particularly in sulfuric and phosphoric conditions. It has been application provided over many years and was originally developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid.
904L stainless steel pipe and pipe fitting are used in the manufacture of petroleum and petrochemical equipment, such as reactors in petroleum equipment, sulfuric acid storage, and transportation equipment, flue gas desulfurization equipment in power plants, scrubbers, and fans in organic acid treatment systems.
